Lesle inherited his artistic inclinations from his father P. L. Raj who is one of Bollywood’s most iconic choreographers. At boarding school Lesle was exposed to the Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, and hundreds of other artists with diverse musical backgrounds from Folk, Rock, Blues, Jazz, to Country, and World. Influenced by these, Lewis soon began to play guitar and perform in front of smaller audiences, and later had the opportunity to be a session musician for recordings with renowned film music directors such as Kalyanji Anandji, Laxmikant Pyarelal, R. D. Burman, and Louis Banks.

In 1987 Lesle launched a music production company and began carving out a career composing advertising jingles. He was nominated for 4 consecutive years and won the Indian Academy of Advertising Film Art (IAAFA) award in 1989.

His most successful pop music productions include Janam Samjha Karo (Asha Bhonsle), Yaaron Dosti (KK), Paree Hoon Mai (Sunita Rao), Meri Neendh Udd Gayi Hai (A Band Of Boys), Sa Ni Dha Pa (Colonial Cousins), Pal (Indian Idol), and Krishna (Colonial Cousins).

Throughout his career Lesle Lewis has had a loyal bond with Shure. Both sharing a legendary status in India, Lesle responds to the question about using Shure gear: “I have been using Shure since the day I fell in love with music. You can’t separate the Shure microphones from the life of a singer/musician. They are a cult product. Since my early days as a young musician I have used Shure in all my projects and albums. It is the only brand I trust when it comes to performance and recording, especially onstage. As a performer who travels across the globe I count on them for their extreme durability and reliability.”

“Personally I have always insisted on using the SM87 or Beta 87A for all my live performances. I love the way the microphone translates my voice to the audience. Every nuance of my vocal is heard. When I’m using Shure microphones on stage, I’m really happy listening to my voice! When I put an SM57 or Beta 58A in front of instruments like a violin, saxophone, guitar or a snare drum, I can hear their natural character. I like their detail and clarity, and using them is a truly enjoyable experience!”

Regarding Shure wireless products Lesle adds “A performer can run and dance over the stage without worrying about wires and other accessories. Shure has amazing receivers and transmitters which are reliable and infuse confidence in the artist as well as the sound engineers.”
